How to pick up your own material

You can pick up your own rock or bark material from our yard in Grants Pass or the larger Murphy plant. In either case, be prepared for the weight of the material you hope to carry. You can get an estimate of the material's approximate weight with the calculator on our products page.

Picking up your material is fairly easy, but our yards are full of heavy equipment and it is important that you use the following procedures to pick up your load:

  1. When you first enter the yard, look for the scale. If you see other vehicles on the scale, stay back until they exit the scale so that it does not affect their weight.
  2. When the scale is clear, pull your vehicle onto the scale and check in at the window. The scale operator will subtract your vehicle's weight from your total after-load weight to acquire the gross load weight of your material.
  3. You will be directed to the appropriate area of the yard to pick up the material and a loader will meet you there. Try to give plenty of clearance for the operator to maneuver from the material to your vehicle. Keep all passengers in the vehicle at all times.
  4. When your vehicle is loaded, return to the scale to weigh in and pay for material.

How to estimate material amounts

Rock and bark products and delivery prices are calculated by cubic yard. To get an accurate estimate of the amount of material you are going to need, begin by calculating your project needs with our Project Calculator.
